About: David T. Kenny
Hello, and welcome to my website! I am a writer, digital media producer, and audio/visual production specialist working in the growing world of “multimedia storytelling”. I feel that phrase accurately describes the work I do, because my skills and interests align with various forms of content creation across multiple media formats, with my specific interest being the written word. Going back to my early childhood, I realized that writing, as well as digital content and video production, could lead to endless possibilities with regard to storytelling. I always felt a yearning to communicate ideas and stories to large audiences. Visual media has become the single most important vehicle for communication and it’s easier than ever to reach large audiences through social media and web publishing.
My love for the written word began at very early age, writing and illustrated children’s books and entering them in the “Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest” back when I was 8 years old! My multimedia storytelling journey began when I got my first laptop back in the 4th grade. I started making videos for my friends using the video editor, “iMovie”, which I was able to pick up pretty fast. I dabbled in animation using Adobe Flash (now known as Adobe Animate). I competed in the “HOMiE: In Our Eyes” competition through the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, submitting a pencil drawing of one of my grandmother’s uncles and getting it hung inside the MFA! In my studies at Stonehill College, I majored in English with a focus on creative writing with a double-minor in Communications and Digital Media Production. With the COVID-19 pandemic hitting its zenith at the end of my senior year, I had to rework my thesis film to be able to complete it during lockdown! Following graduation, I began doing freelance writing and content creation for clients, creating digital graphics and videos with the Adobe Creative Suite, and producing audio recordings using Logic Pro. My most recent full-time position was with Northeastern University as the Support Coordinator to the Media Center for the College of Arts, Media, & Design (CAMD). Here I developed many helpful skills, such as employee hiring and onboarding, employee and inventory management, support leadership, teaching/training, workshop leading, and supervisory skills.
After working over 3 years full-time at Northeastern, I decided that it was in my best interest to pursue my true passion for multimedia storytelling as a full-time vocation. That brings me to where I am today, doing freelance writing and content creation for clients once again! My interest in storytelling remains boundless, and I look forward to any future opportunity to help others tell their stories!

Moving Pictures: My College Thesis Film
This is my college thesis film “Dead Air” — originally written as a dark comedy short film, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns, I decided the best pivot I could make would be to turn it into a documentary about how I was NOT able to make my short film. I thought to include it here, because the film also goes over my history of multimedia storytelling, as well as some personal anecdotes.
